A Recommendation for Future Discussion

We have read a lot about the American experience and the ideas that have supported the development of the United States from colonial times through the present. A good book that fills in a lot of the gaps in our coverage of these themes from the Revolution through the late nineteenth century is William H. Goetzmann, Beyond the Revolution: A History of American Thought from Paine to Pragmatism.
